Management

Vertex is headed by Tim Vatuone, a technology industry veteran with over 30 years of experiences.  After receiving his BS in Economics and MBA from the University of Santa Clara, he began his career in Silicon Valley at  Hewlett Packard. Tim left HP and went onto Convergent Technologies, a company that grew from $9 million to $325 million in three years. He has raised over $125 million in various equity and debt financing issues in his career. Tim's deep background in corporate finance, international business and both public and start-up environments has lead him to hold the CFO position at both publically traded companies and start ups.  Tim's CFO experience at these companies allowed him to produce the following results:

  • Capetronic International Holdings, Ltd: a 300+ million Asian-based manufacturer of computer displays. Tim grew revenue from $160m to $310m and created $10m in profits from a loss while margins in the industry went from 33% to 18%.
  • Vivid Semiconductor: a venture backed LCD start up where he helped raise over $65 million in various finaicings and successfully sold to National Semicondutor
  • Syntellect Inc (NASDAQ) voice recognition and call processing technologies: Tim's turn around plan yielded profit for the company for the first time in 10+ years. He reduced DSO from 135+ days to 55 days while crafting the reorganization of the company that saved millions in overhead. The company sold in 2003.
  • Advent Solar: $45 m equity and debt raise.  In addition, he covered the company's purchase of foreign manufactured assets through currency hedges, saving the company over $1.5 million in Foreign Exchange exposures.

Tim's CFO experiences translates to being  masterful in cost systems and operational issues. While working at two different companies, Tim outsourced the financial and IT functions and found through actual experience the leverage, cost effectiveness and efficiency to be realized by outsourcing.  This led Tim to launch Vertex Consulting so that he could offer these services to select companies.
